Why did 2 disasters destroy Kobe but NOT this mosque? (Footage Inside)

This is the 1935 Kobe Mosque, Japan’s oldest standing masjid. While the entire city of Kobe was leveled to the ground in 1945 (WWII) and again during the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, this original structure remained untouched.

Watch the rare archival footage showing the city in ruins while the masjid stands alone.

Why do the locals call it the "Miracle Mosque"?

1. It survived the firebombing of WWII.

2. It stood firm during one of the deadliest earthquakes in history.

Question for you: Is this pure engineering, or something more?  Let’s discuss.
