Mombasa! Cool city. small and enjoyable! Especially Indian, Pakistanis can enjoy good social life. Number of places can be visited repeatedly. Very good beaches, many Churches, Mosques and Hindu Temples around, Malls and super markets, wild life safaris are around.
Working environment is good too but slow. No hurry in Africa!
good restaurants of all kinds, full of beach resorts for day/ night out.
For expatriates is like long time outing. 2-3 years are easy to go without getting bored. around 1000-1200 USD should be enough to live good life. Education is bit expensive than Asian countries. Small grade education is of good quality but high school & university is not recommended. People move to india and UK for it.
Generally, expats get accommodation and car (with fuel) from employer. Then one can save more. good entertainment places like multiplex and game zones, casinos, bars and clubs of all communities including Indians.
Importantly, safer than Nairobi.
Mombasa is probably the most relaxed of all the cities in Kenya (yes, there are really not that many!). Life is slow..and good. Like being on holiday..the sea is never far.
Also, its multi-cultural, with a host of Indians, British, German, Italian, Turkish and Chinese settlers, amongst others. Any expatriate should have no trouble fitting in!
Education is top notch - with many international schools. The city is also well connected to Nairobi and other parts of the world
