Basically what Sea of Thieves should of been. Once again, the indie market blows the AAA publishing companies out of the water, at a fraction of the price.
Don't people do anything in the real world anymore, like build and fix stuff, or grow fruit and vegetables? When I was a teenager, me and my mate built a real raft, and sailed it for miles down the local river armed with home made fishing rods and air rifles. That was over 45 years ago and still I remember it clearly. This silly game, like all its peers, will be forgotten in a few months, and players will have gained zero useful real world skills. This seems to be the product of a vicarious couch potato culture.
Bought it and played with a friend. "Finnished" it in 7 hours after reaching the radio tower, we were both extremely disappointed to find out that was it, now we have the option roam around expanding the raft if we wish but it doesnt really feel tempting, we have researched everything so.. To me it doesnt have much re play value either, just find the tower and thats it. If you are more than 3 people I believe you could finnish it even faster. Meh, not too impressed.
Refunded the game in 20 minutes. Started the game by jumping off the raft and going on an island. Collected all I could find there, but then I couldn't build another raft despite having the materials. Crafted the building tool, tried everything and couldn't find a way to make a new raft. Decided to start swimming to what looked like a ship wreck in the distance, and the moment I got in the water both the shipwreck and the island disappeared. Tried to swim back to the island and it was straight up gone.
Sharks are poisonous to humans, because their blood can't filter out the iron. So it just keeps accumulating, and the end result is that the shark is not edible for human consumption, which is why the fin is the only part used in food.
Enjoyed the ride to "endgame", building and upgrading, but that didn't last very long and any sort of ending is not present yet. The oil platform is there, and we can find it with the receiver and antennas, but nothing in it. Missing story entirely.
