We’ve put together a list of the must-eat Halal restaurants in Beijing across districts like Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, and Haidian, covering classic legends and trendy spots like Nanmen Shuanrou near the Temple of Heaven, Zhungeer Xinjiang Cuisine, Jubaoyuan’s hand-sliced copper pot hot pot on Niujie, and the old-school Lao Xi'an Restaurant in Xinjiekou.
Dongcheng District
Nanmen Shuanrou (Temple of Heaven Branch): A 32-year-old staple. This is the original hot pot spot with plenty of branches, though it's always packed with a line.
Zhungeer Xinjiang Cuisine (Longtan Branch): This is the official office restaurant for the Shihezi government in Beijing. Their signature dish is the bread-wrapped lamb leg, and it's located near Longtan Park—expect a wait.
Xicheng District
Jubaoyuan (Niujie Flagship): They’ve been perfecting their copper pot hot pot for over 30 years, and their hand-sliced lamb is always consistently thin and tender.
Lao Xi'an Restaurant (Xinjiekou South Street Branch): Open since 1954, this is a spot locals swear by. Beyond their famous paomo (pita bread soaked in lamb soup), their stir-fried dishes are also solid.
Niujie Da Lübao Roast Lamb Leg (Niujie Main Store): They use a traditional fruit-wood charcoal oven to roast the meat, making the skin crispy while the inside stays super juicy.
Niujie Qingzhen Manhengji (Ping'anli West Street Branch): This place is legendary for the lines. They source lamb directly from Sunite, Inner Mongolia, and their sesame paste sugar pancakes are famous for that oozing, molten filling.
Chaoyang District
Ma Aisa Niula (Jiangtai Road): A beef noodle spot recommended by celebrities. The hand-pulled noodles have a perfect chew, and their chili oil is super fragrant without being overly spicy.
Musefeilin Xinjiang Restaurant (Pileyuan Branch): They serve zhafan (lamb pilaf) that’s literally glistening with flavor. It’s not too far from the Joy City mall in Chaoyang.
Ritan Shuanrou (Ritan Park Branch): Located near the embassy area by Ritan Park, this spot features personal individual pots—it's a great vibe eating copper-pot hot pot in a traditional siheyuan (courtyard house).
Xiting Xiuse Turkish Feast (Xinyuanli Branch): This is the Turkish government office restaurant in Beijing, and the interior design gives off a really cool, authentic exotic vibe.
Manfulou Halal Hot Pot (Qiaofu Branch): Experience the classic Beijing food culture in a copper pot; they’ve maintained the same great flavor for over 30 years.
Fengtai District
Wanping Liji Snacks (Dongguan Street Branch): Located right next to Wanping City, this spot has been serving affordable and delicious Halal snacks for nearly 30 years.
Haidian District
Xinjiang Bazhou Jinseite Restaurant (Dazhongsi Branch): The official Bazhou government restaurant. They use traditional oven-roasting techniques, and the meat is incredibly tender and firm.
Chaisi Fengweizhai (Ganjiakou Branch): This place uses a secret braising broth passed down through three generations; the noodles are firm and the beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender.
Changping District
Lao Yangjia Halal Cuisine (Yangfang Branch): A hidden gem for Halal food in Changping. If you’re heading out to the suburbs, definitely stop by and try their signature garlic-braised lamb kidneys.
Mentougou District
Tanyang Puzi Northern & Southern Xinjiang Specialties (Mentougou Branch): They use tender, juicy Tan sheep from Ningxia and use traditional oven-roasting methods to keep that authentic Xinjiang flavor alive.
How many of these must-try Halal spots have you guys been to?
I’ve only ticked off 8 of them so far, so I'll be posting more notes as I continue my food tour.
Are there any other Halal restaurants you think are absolute musts? Feel free to add them in the comments! view all
