If my parents router is downstairs connected to a computer and modem and i want my own personal router, how would i be able to hook it up wirelessly?

i'm going for a UniFi Environment. I also wanna put a little more Security to it, so i have to decide wether i'm buying an USG, or a PfSense Box.
