It completely depends.  Data Science includes a large swath of position requirements and skill sets.  Your best bet is to research a company that you would like to work for, and identify what their requirements are.  For example, some DS positions are SQL monkeys + visualizations with a little analysis.  Some positions are full on research roles requiring Ph.D’s.  It’s completely company specific.
