I'm interested in getting into data science. I'm currently a web developer with, javascript as my primary language. I've used a bit of python before, but not too much. My interest in getting into data science is for the benefits it would bring to entrepreneurship (data-driven decision making) and being able to have a better understanding of the big picture. Given this, I am trying to decide which path to go down: R or Python

Hi Kyle, As far as I know Python has a wide range of libraries which supports large variety of data driven algorithms and visualisations when compared to R along with great community. Also, Python as a programming language is user friendly and easy to grasp quick. So, I would recommend you to switch for Python for your career in data science.

As a developer, try python first.  Get to know pandas for wrangling and Scikit-learn’s syntax is very clean.

For math/stats guys, R is more natural.  R’s syntax will drive you nuts if you are already a coder.
