For a while I focused on html, css and JavaScript. I then moved to php relying on it for my server and databases using sql. It was a lot of working with the different languages over and over and eventually being aware of the language and how it works. After a while I am now able to understand languages better just from being familiar with how programming works. I think as long as you learn javascript you can start learning a server side language and a database option like sql. Once you can do all that i think you would be fine to start a framework like angular or react and use node with no problem. It's a grind for sure, but when you make things out of what you learn it becomes a passion, just keep using what you learn on side projects and dont give up. That's just my journey and expierence sorry for the ramble haha
