[Internet Repost]

Step deep into the historic heart of Acheng District in Harbin, Heilongjiang, to visit the Acheng Mosque, a site officially designated for provincial cultural protection. This famous Northeast landmark, first built in the 42nd year of the Qianlong reign, features classic gray brick and tiled architecture with precision masonry, a unique "convex"-shaped vaulted hall layout, and intricate century-old wood carvings.

Tucked away in the old town area of Harbin's Acheng District, you’ll find the Acheng Mosque—a serene, historic sanctuary that has stood for over two hundred years.

Founded in the 42nd year of the Qianlong Emperor’s reign and renovated during the Guangxu era, this mosque is recognized as one of the country's hundred most famous mosques. As a designated provincial cultural relic, it stands as a rare and beautiful blend of traditional Chinese aesthetics and Islamic architectural style in Northeast China.

The entire complex features classic gray bricks and dark roof tiles, crafted with seamless "mozhuan duifeng" (meticulous brickwork joints). The elegant feiyan dougong (traditional flying eaves and wooden brackets) reflect classic Chinese style, while the tin-plated crescent moon symbol atop the roof adds a distinct touch of Islamic heritage.

The layout consists of a vaulted front hall, a middle hall, and the main prayer hall, creating a distinct "convex"-shaped architectural footprint. Every carved beam and painted pillar is packed with exquisite details that showcase a century of craftsmanship.

If you’re in Acheng exploring the ruins of the Jin Dynasty capital, make sure to swing by this low-key, century-old mosque. It captures some of the most moving history and timeless atmosphere that Harbin has to offer.
